Does this sound like a familiar name? Rings a bell ?
huh, if not, you must be in a non-internet, no newspaper zone - and especially several miles away from my birthplace Mumbai !
Bal Thackeray - Chief of Shiv Sena - is in headlines again! and this time he's used Mr. Sachin Tendulkar as a ladder to reach the news.
Issue? none rather. It's a bad (yet old) habit of Mr. Thackeray to pull out an issue out of nothing - just like the magician pulls out a rabbit out of an empty hat. Well, I admire his skill in doing so- but not in this manner! What are the objections to Sachin's statement? Let's look -
"He's suited best in his field -cricket and he has no business to enter politics. He has no business to talk about being an Indian first and then a Maharastrian"
Now wait a minute!
"I am an Indian first and then ________ian (fill in the blanks!) ", does this sound like a political statement to you? Raise your hand if you say yes/no! keep it raised if u say Yes, and slap Mr. Thackeray with the same hand if you say No.
What makes me angry here is not Mr. Thackeray's attack on Sachin. It's his view on expressing an opinion. Who's he to decide what one should say and what not?
If by saying "I'm an Indian first" makes the statement political then stating the price of 1 dozen "eggs" would make me a poultry farmer! It is as absurd as that.
Enough is enough Bal Talk-rey, You've made a mistake, better admit it!

I am in a sort of way pleased that Bal has made this statement against a prominent and largely loved personality like Sachin. Cos I am hoping he would face severe backlash for these statements; he usually gets away unscathed.
political gimmick when he shud be going for a kashi trip...:P
Agree with Kauts... But still cant understand whats running through shiv sainiks mind. Do they want Maharashatra or Mumbai Out of India? Its shame on the part of Shiv Sena followers that they keep quiet for such dirty, childish remarks against Tendlya.
Yay! Kouti... soooper.. agree with u!
Well said Kaustubh!!

AWESOME....Too good Kau! And totally agree with you on the topic
He should be a Bal-No-Talk-Rey. Why talk about Bal when Sachin is still ruling the roost? Three cheers to the little master
Haahaahaa good one!! Totally support you. And I love the way you ended it :)
gud 1 kauti
kauuu...nice one :) the poultry farmer one is the best line of the blog!!
keep writing dear :)
hmm.. first, i dont understand why that question was asked in the first place.. n then thinking from Sena (SS/MNS) pov, they had to go for it.. if they hadnt, ppl would have still said, why didnt u say anything to Sachin.. im not supporting Sena in this issue in any way, but guess that's d way politics is played in our country..
Kau...you have a problem with Bal's views and Bal will have a problem with yours. Like it or not thats how democracy plays out. Each person is entitled to voice out their opinion and that cant be stopped. The problem here is more to do with the ideology which again is thriving coz democracy allows it to.
Still having seen China, where it seems the volume has been turned down for the entire nation, would take democracy anyday.
@Mani - exactly. That's my point. And Bal t. is not allowing that. Sachin/me/you/the begger on the road - all can express their opinion, and Mr. Bal T. can't stop us and label them as "political" as and when he wants. This has been going on for long time, now is high time we don't treat is as yet another Sena mischief.
Tight security for kauti !!
Poultry farmer ... Mr. Bajaj?? :P
