Song I liked : [Phir se udd chala (RockStar)]

Rockstar is special movie. It took some time to grow on and appreciate.
Ranbir (JJ/Jordan) is an aspiring singer who's not so serious about it. He meets a gal, has a casual friendship slowly turning into something else.
And when she's getting married, on her marriage eve JJ starts wondering about this relationship with her.

The song is really special. It has no real structure. It flows freely like water; rather a feather in an air current. It goes wavy with differential pace.
The start is instrumental, with traditional kashmiri folk tune perhaps that of a marriage.

Then starts JJs epic journey towards being a famed singer -
There's no structure of "stanza" and "interludes" here. I'm going to tie it up with the video instead.
The Video:lyrics:Tune combination is so kick ass that it is impossible to describe in mere words.

we see JJ returning from Kashmir, lost in thoughts. Kashmir is engulfed in the snow, JJ moving away from all this paradise towards his destination. But does he know what he wants?

Here the video captures the progress of JJ -> Jordan in a few stills stitched together.
awesome editing job! Another director could have taken a score of scenes to show this.

/*
on this very unrelated note, watch this video from Abhimaan. Last stanza of this song shows the rise of fame for Amitabh as a singer. Watch how symbolic and subtly the progression has been shown. master-shot being that of a person walking with radio in his hands listening to The song.
*/
back to JJ or Jordan and his fame.
but in the song, Heer keeps coming back to him creating shadows of doubts in his whirled mind.
what is that he seeks?

the words here perhaps show the "exact" state of mind of JJ. No camerawork or dialogues could say what he feels like. The structure of this tune and lyrics try to peep into his mind for us.
confused yet seeking something, trying to locate his solace into something unknown. on one side, JJ keeps raising as a star. But beneath that veneer, he's deeply hurt. And most agonizing part for him is the reason is partly hidden from him.

song continues-

Yearning for her, deeply in love perhaps. JJ slowly realizes what is happening to him.
But there's no escape from the music and fame around him.

the song comes back to structure, beats starting to dominate the tune. JJ's in a disc, splashing alcohol on his face to pretend his facade of a hip singer.
the beat keeps rising and JJ slowly gets swallowed into the vortex of disc dancing madly to the beat.

and we come the most beautifully written line in the entire song:
JJ has surrendered himself to Jordan.
